Year 2 - Next Weeks Learning


It is that time of year!

Year 1 and 2 will begin practicing for the Nativity that will take place on Tuesday 11th December at St Edithas Church Tamworth at 6pm. We are so excited and this year it is a Nativity with an extra special twist!!

All children now know parts they will play. Costumes required are written in reading diary's. All children must practice lines and songs every day and this can be instead of reading books.

Please pop and see me with any issues with costumes! I will help as much as I can.


Addition and Subtraction. Children will continue to develop their understanding of addition and subtraction of two digit numbers. They will use concrete, pictorial and abstract methods to support their understanding.


We will spend the week looking at our whole school text "The Storm Whale". Children will choose to write either a fact file on whales, a news paper report about a washed up whale or a letter. 

Over the next few weeks children will focus on "Healthy Living, Healthy Lifestyle" during Science. They will perform various exercises and count how many they can perform in a set time. They will keep a healthy food diary and look in more detail at what makes a healthy diet.


Children will work in class each day on the spellings they are required to know by the end of year 2., I have decided not to send any spellings home as I am seeing little impact during testing. Children are making much more progress doing them first thing each day.



Last week ELIZA was STAR of the week.

During guided reading over the next two weeks children will be reading a Diary Entry "Amy's journey to Machu Picchu. Ask the children to share the exciting new vocabulary with you each day.


Books will be sent home on Monday and must be returned by Friday. Page numbers will be displayed on this page weekly or be sent out via text.

If you do not wish for your child to complete the homelearning please return the books to school, as year 2's books have been funded by the school.
